NOTES:
William Franklin Guthrie was born in May of 1849 in Georgia. He was only 1 at the time of the 1850 census when the family was listed in District 31 of Forsyth County, Georgia. His father died when William was just a boy. He moved along with most of the family to Blount County, Alabama. It was there that he married Caroline Julia Bailey on 22 February 1874 when he was about 24 years of age. They settled in Cullman County, Alabama by 1880 where he continued working as a farmer.

Josephine Guthrie was married at 22 to John Keen Hart, a widower with six children from his previous marriage to Julia Ann Blackman. That couple had married 1 Dec 1881 in Haralson, Georgia and were parents to Jesse C Hart (1886-1913), Lucy Pauline ‘Lena’ Hart (1887-1974), Nancy Elizabeth Hart (1889-1937), Effie Leonia Hart (1891-1948), George Allen Hart (1893-1965), and Eva B Hart (1895-1981).
John and Josephine married on 1 September 1897 in Cullman County, Alabama and settled in Ballyton. He was a farmer. She was mother to her step-children and gave birth to eight children of which five survived her. Children by Josie: Ives Maxine Hart (1898-1983), Franklin H Hart (1900-1901), Ila Annie Hart (1901-1977), Noel Emmitt Hart (1905-2000), Johnnie K Hart (1906-1907), James Earnie Hart (1908-1966), Zilla Ozell Hart (1909-1909), and Thelma Bell Hart (1910-1979).
Josephine (Guthrie) Hart was only 39 at her death on 13 May 1914. Her husband, John Keen Hart, lived until 1940. His death came on 16 Feb 1940 in Cullman, Alabama.

Georgia Guthrie was the third of Robert Adler Mann’s four wives. His first marriage occurred on 9 May 1897 to Mittie V Eidson by whom he had several children. She died 1 May 1907. HIs second marriage came in 1907 to Mrs Minnie Lou (Hawkins) Eidson, the widow of Batton Caleb Eidson. She died 16 February 1911, but had also had a couple of Mann’s children. Next came his marriage to Georgia A Guthrie on 28 April 1912. They had three children together prior to her death on 1 Oct 1917. These were Minnie V Mann (1913-1993), Charlie Lucille Mann (1915-2012), and Roy Audrey Mann (1916-1972). Lastly, he married a widow, Mrs. Ninnie Lena (Dunn) Scott, on 29 Jun 1918, by whom he had six more children. All of these marriages took place in Cullman, Alabama where Bob was a well known farmer near Baileyton. He sold the farm in 1920. Bob died on 17 April 1961 at 82 years of age. His widow Ninnie died on 25 Sep 1969 at the age of 76. They are all buried at the Eidson Chapel Cemetery in Cullman County, Alabama.

John Robert Guthrie was born in 1878. He appears to have worked on the home farm as a laborer until his marriage to Zora E Watwood on 9 Nov 1902. On several census records, her name is written as “Elzie V” which may indicate that her full name is Zora Elzie Viola Watwood. John and Zora had 5 daughters and 1 son: Veda Velma Guthrie (1903-1983), Tessie Jane Guthrie (1905-1992), Fornice Dale Guthrie (1906-2004), William Frank Guthrie (1907-1985), Elzie Viola Guthrie (1910-1993), and Carrie Charlsie Guthrie (1913-1998). They lived in Baileyton, Cullman, AL throughout their marriage. John died at 71 years old on 10 Sep 1949. Zora lived until 24 Jan 1964. She was 78 at her death. They are buried at Baileyton Cemetery in Baileyton, Cullman, AL.

Growing up in Baileyton, Walter Lee Guthrie was 19 at the turn of the century. During the 1900 census he was still a student living at home with his parents and siblings. He married the following year, on 14 July 1901, to Minnie Lee Pate. He worked as a farmer and in later years as a retail merchant. Walter and Minnie were parents to Zula Gertis Guthrie (1905-1973), Icelar Guthrie (1907-2000), Henry Grady Guthrie (1910- 1946), Walter Lee Guthrie Jr (1912-1939), Lucy Virginia Guthrie (1915-1974), and Thurmon Paul Guthrie (1917-1994). His wife Minnie Lee (Pate) Guthrie died in 1942 on the 21st of April. She is buried at Cullman City Cemetery. Before 1950, Walter remarried to Mrs Nina (Binkley) Williams, the widow of Jasper Eldridge Williams by whom she had two sons: Winston Augustus Williams (1916-1995) and Alvin Vardell Williams (1918-2011). During the 1950 census, Walter 69, and Nina 54 were living in the home of her parents, James M and Lydia Binkley, 80 and 79 respectively, in Nashville, Davidson, TN. Nina was working as a private home Practical Nurse. Walter Lee Guthrie died on 8 April 1962 in Nashville at 81 years of age. He was buried at the Cullman City Cemetery in Alabama.

James Harris Guthrie was 19 at his marriage to Maybell Burden, a daughter of James Madison Burden and his wife Martha Matilda Butler. They lived in Baileyton, Cullman, Alabama where they ran a farm. The couple had 3 sons and 2 daughters born between 1904 and 1917: Nellie Pansie Guthrie (1904-1995), Kermit Gurley Guthrie (1907-1977), Archie Paul Guthrie (1909-1996), Willie Jay Guthrie (1915-1990), and Leonard Ossie Guthrie (1917-1986). World War I required James to complete a Draft Registration Card, which he sighted in 1918. listing his DOB as 6 July 1888 in Cullman, AL, occupation as farming, and Maebelle Guthrie as his next of kin. He was listed as being of medium height and build with dark hair and grey eyes. James died on 14 Jun 1968 and Maybell ten years later on 21 Jan 1978. They are buried at Baileyton Cemetery in Baileyton, Cullman County, Alabama.

Sanford Wilbur Guthrie was born in Cullman County, Alabama on 16 August 1888. As a young man he worked as a farm laborer on the home farm. He was 23 at his marriage to Ella Pearl Thompson. They lived in Baileyton, Cullman, Alabama where he continued to work as a farmer. They were parents to Lewis Morris Guthrie (1914-1990), Agnes Inez Guthrie (1916-2010), Sanford Wilber Guthrie Jr (1918-1987), Tommie Esther Guthrie (1920-2001), Douglas Guthrie (1927-1990), Sherrell Eugene Guthrie (1931-2018), and Hazel Guthrie (1936-2006). Sanford died on 5 Nov 1967 and Ella Pearl (Thompson) Guthrie on 3 Aug 1973. They are buried at Baileyton Cemetery in Cullman County, Alabama.

Emma Belle Guthrie married at 20 years of age to Jessie W Watwood. He worked as a farmer. They initially lived in Baileyton, Cullman, AL, but moved to Berlin in the same county by 1930. Within the next five years they had settled in Cherokee County, AL. They had 5 sons in succession between 1913 and 1924 and then 4 daughters, namely Dovard Walker Watwood (1913-1975), Henry Guthrie Watwood (1916-2003), Quinton Lorenzo Watwood (1918-1989), Jessie Dewitt Watwood (1922-2004), Revis T Watwood (1924-1993), Helen Marie Watwood (1928-2015), Vera I Watwood (1930-2008), Bonnie Sue Watwood (1933-2010), and Carolyn Watwood (1936-1970).
Emma’s husband Jessie W Watwood was only 59 at his death on 19 April 1949. During the 1960s, Emma moved to Georgia where she died in Rome, Floyd County on 4 June 1977. She was 85.
