Ann Guthrie

Ann Guthrie was a daughter of William Guthrie and his first wife, Lettice Burk. The parish register preserves the beginning and end of her short life: a September birth and baptism in 1722, followed by her death four days before her fifteenth birthday.

Ann was the second recorded child of William and Lettice, following her older sister Betty and preceding Rachel. She was baptized ten days after her birth. Her death entry gives the date and her father’s name, but no cause of death.

Names in the register. The birth and baptism entry calls her Anne, daughter of William and Lettice Guttery. The death entry names Ann, daughter of William Guthery. These spellings are retained in the source notes while the page uses Ann Guthrie.
Age at death. Her recorded dates place her death four days before her fifteenth birthday. The age of fourteen is calculated from those dates; it is not separately stated in the death entry.
A younger half-sister. William later had another daughter named Ann, born in 1745 to Frances Wilbourn. That younger Ann, associated with Samuel Bristow, is a separate person. Her marriage and later records do not belong to this child.
