Lillian Beatrice Guthrie was born on 15 February 1907 in Oklahoma. She was the eldest daughter of James Preston Guthrie and his second wife, Maude Shinpoch. They were living in Tulsa, Oklahoma when she married Fred H Cox on 8 March 1924 at the age of 17. They had one son, Ernest James Cox. Houston was a car salesman. He died 5 Nov 1988 in OK.

The 1930 census lists Lillian, her son Ernest, and brother Leslie Guthrie as “Mixed Blood” under the column for Father’s Place of Birth instead of a location. All other census records label them and family members as white. No other clues found.

The couple apparently divorced because Lillian married again about 1932 to George Washington Ramsey Jr (1895-1965). A WWI veteran, he was the co-owner and treasurer of the Hara Corp., a building firm in Tulsa. He had come to Tulsa in 1913 from Success, MO, and owned a grocery and several motels before joining the Hara Corp. in 1953. They had two daughter, Alma Jean (1933) and Mary Ellen (1942).

Their daughter Mary Ellen, an honor student at Edison High School, died at only 15 years of age due to illness. George Ramsey died 20 May 1965. He was 69. Lillian’s death came on 5 December 1992 in Tulsa, OK. They are buried at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.
