Notes: The 1766 date suggests that Ann Guthrie was born in Maryland rather than Northern Ireland or North Carolina. The family settled in Orange County, North Carolina by the time of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse in 1781. She married John Shannon about 7 years before either of her brothers married the Smith sisters in 1791. The Guthries and Shannons moved to the Robertson-Sumner County border area around the same time about 1792-93.

Betsy was born on 8 March 1785 in North Carolina. She married Henry Elmore about 1808. They lived in Robertson County, TN and raised a family of 8 children most of whom I have little to no info. Henry died in 1849. There is a marriage record for an Elizabeth Shannon in Robertson County, TN to Albert H Bloodworth on 9 March 1865 that some have attached to this Betsy, however records show Albert was born about 1844. Probably a different Elizabeth Elmore as Betsy would have been 80. She died 8 March 1866.
