NOTES:

The 1850 census image spells out either “Keturia” or “Ketmia” either of which would be a rare name used within our Guthrie families, but she does have a brother named Canulem (spelled Kanelim in this census). The name Keturah is a feminine name of Hebrew origin translating to ‘incense fragrance’. She is listed as 16 years of age in 1850.

No further records found with any variation of this name.

Speculatively, at least one Ancestry user suggests that Keturia/Ketmia is actually Katherine Guthrie who married George Gibble, a mariner, on 25 Sep 1853 in Carteret County, NC. There is nothing within the marriage record to indicate a connection to this Guthrie family. The Gibble household is one census page over from the family of George W and Sidney (Whitehead) Guthrie, but they also had no known daughter by the name Catherine.
