NOTES:
Many trees do not list Zachariah or his sister Frances as children of Henry Guthrie & Manerva Lyon, but both are found in the 1860 census with the widow and her other children.
Zachariah T Guthrie was born sometime between 1851 and 1856 according to census records or in 1852 per his obituary. The latter date is closest to the 1860 census, which is the earliest one listing him with his mother and siblings. (Note the transcription accidentally lists him as 19 instead of 9 and born about 1841 instead of about 1851.) Presumably, he is named for US President Zachary Taylor, who served in that office from 1849 until his death in 1850.
There is a Zachariah T Guthrie in the records born about 1854 in Georgia who married Susan L Alexander. He was living in Heard County, Georgia in 1880 and working as a shoemaker, an occupation frequently found in this particular family. I believe that this man is Henry & Manerva’s son. Check out the original census record rather than the transcript as there is an obvious error in the transcription, which lists Z T Guthrie as a son of M D Akins. In actuality, the original record is a listing of the Alexander household. M D Akins it the 71 year old mother of the Head of Household. Z T Guthrie is listed as a hired laborer, a shoemaker. His future wife, Susan is a daughter of the household.
Y-DNA from a descendant of son Albert Walton Guthrie can confirm a GFG5 match.
According to his obituary, Zachariah moved to Roopville in Carroll County, Georgia about 1879. It was there he met and married Miss Susan Alexander, by whom he had five children. Only three children survived him. For many years he conducted a shoe shop, and later a grocery and confectionary store. He also ran the only Public Boarding House in town. (See Obituaries for both Zachariah and Susan for Full Details.)

Note there is a case of mistaken identity for Annie Lee Guthrie. She is erroneously listed in at least one Ancestry tree as the wife of Beverly Asbury Guthrie of Cobb County, GA. His wife was Anna L Corley.
Annie Lee, the daughter of Zachariah and Susan (Alexander) Guthrie, was born on 11 Dec 1885 near Roopville in Carroll County, Georgia. She was 23 at the time of her first marriage to Patrick Henry Smith in 1909. He was a farmer, labor agent for a nitrate plant, and later a dry goods salesman / store clerk. They were renting a farm in Center, Cherokee, Alabama during the 1910 census.
Patrick signed up for the WWI draft in 1918 described as being of medium height and build, blue eyes and brown hair. The nearest relative he listed was one of his brothers rather than his wife. Patrick and Annie divorced before the 1920 census when she is found living at 197 South Pryor Street in Atlanta with her mother Susie Guthrie 65, son Terrell Smith, 9, sister Mary Johnson, 24, brother-in-law, M L Johnson 29, and several boarders. Her mother is listed as a Boardinghouse Keeper. Her father, Zachariah T Guthrie had died in 1911.

CHILD 4: INFANT of GUTHRIE
Born: Bet. 1881-1900GA – Died: Bet. 1881-1900GA @ Age: Unknown
The 1900 census indicates that Susan L (Alexander) Guthrie had given birth to 5 children, only 3 of whom were living by that time. Both Zachariah and Susan are buried in Row 14 of Roopville City Cemetery in Carroll Co., Georgia. Also in Row 14 are two other Guthrie graves. One is for “Infant of Guthrie” presumed to be one of their children who died during childbirth or infancy. No dates of birth or death on the marker. Nor any indication of gender. See Find-a-Grave Memorial 126499659.
