NOTES:

Ann Guthrie is named in the 1776 census of Elizabeth Hundred, Frederick County, Maryland. This census is not grouped by family, but by gender and age. “Ann Guthry” is listed as 21 years old, which indicates that she was born in or about 1755. The remainder of the census suggests Robert and Esther Guthrie a primary Guthrie couple with their children.

The 1788 Rockbridge County, Virginia will of Robert Guthrie names his grandson, John King, bequeathing him five pounds. Ann is not named in the will. Since the other younger named daughters do not marry until later, it is presumed that Ann Guthrie married a King, had at least one child named John King, and that she died prior to the writing of her father’s will.

The identity of her husband is unknown, but there is a good chance he was also living in Frederick County, MD during the Provincial Census of 1776, which names people of all ages and genders.
