Notes: Reuben Guthrie may have been born in Hanover County, Virginia, but was still young when his parents moved to Halifax County, North Carolina. He moved with them to Kentucky. It does not appear that Reuben Guthrie married or had any children. There are two marriages in VA and NC that are frequently attached to this many in error. He was already living in KY at a much earlier date.

After Reuben Guthrie’s death, his heirs were all identified when they granted Jesse Guthrie a Power of Attorney to act on their behalf in a lawsuit. The heirs of both Reuben Guthrie and his deceased brother Peter Guthrie were: Eleanor Guthrie (mother) in KY, John Guthrie (brother) in NC, Henry Guthrie (brother) in TN, Jesse Guthrie (brother and the designated P of A) in KY, George Marshal (widower of sister Mary) and guardian to ‘infant’ (aka underage) Mary Marshall, Samuel Taylor and wf Elizabeth (niece, d/o Geo & Mary) late Elizabeth Marshal, Benjamin Batterton and wf Susannah (sister), Jesse Thomas and wf Elizabeth (sister), Henry Batterton (widower of sister Anna) and guardian of his children William, David, and George Batterton (nephews).
